Monday night we won an Silver Award at The One Show in NYC! Bradford just got back this morning with one of the silver pencil… my comes in next week : ) I’ve never heard of The One Show, because I’m a newibee but this is a global competition we went up against large design agencies especially out of Japan, which they won most of the awards. They just so awesome like that but only 30 pencils were given.

Posted in: Art / Graphic Design, Freelance
Since working for BLDG, I don’t like any of website designs I did before working here, (they started to look the same) and when I was asked to redesign a website, that I have design two years ago, I got excited to get started. So here’s the homepage for the San Antonio Baptist Association.

No CommentsI designed environmental graphics for Fuse Fitness at work and I’m please on how it turned out. Here’s a sneak peek. It was a long process, late nights, but it taught me to design for 3 dimensions. Here’s some advice I can give… mock up your designs in photoshop with real pictures (which is more work). But it really helps to see you designs dropped into a real life environment.

I had the opportunity to see Dirk Fowler speak last night, about how he approaches a concept of poster design. He’s not only a great designer but a great guy. One of the questions raised last night was about “$” and I love what his response was, “There’s not a lot of money to be made in poster design. You don’t do it to make money, you do it because you love it.”
That’s what it comes down to. I know the garage man makes more money than I do but I just love what I do and can’t see myself doing anything else. Dirk Fowler’s work inspirited me to get better and continue to do what I’m doing.
Here’s one of the piece he presented last night, which my jaw dropped when I saw it (which Lydia can attest to). Very Simple! That’s what I love about it.
