Here’s a trade booth I design at work. It was very last minute, we only had a few days to work on it. On the last night we pulled a 14 hour shift. There only one mistake that printer messed up on but other than that it came out great. It was the best booth at the convention.

I designed environmental graphics for Fuse Fitness at work and I’m please on how it turned out. Here’s a sneak peek. It was a long process, late nights, but it taught me to design for 3 dimensions. Here’s some advice I can give… mock up your designs in photoshop with real pictures (which is more work). But it really helps to see you designs dropped into a real life environment.

I had the opportunity to see Dirk Fowler speak last night, about how he approaches a concept of poster design. He’s not only a great designer but a great guy. One of the questions raised last night was about “$” and I love what his response was, “There’s not a lot of money to be made in poster design. You don’t do it to make money, you do it because you love it.”

That’s what it comes down to. I know the garage man makes more money than I do but I just love what I do and can’t see myself doing anything else. Dirk Fowler’s work inspirited me to get better and continue to do what I’m doing.

Here’s one of the piece he presented last night, which my jaw dropped when I saw it (which Lydia can attest to). Very Simple! That’s what I love about it.
